It was the first speaking corner this year. We observed several paintings by Eduard Hopper and also the ‘Raft of the Medusa’ by Géricault, the ‘In Bed the Kiss’ by Toulouse-Lautrec and ‘The Starry Night’ by Vincent van Gogh. With Joan, we talked about impressions, sensations, feelings, textures, perspectives, atmospheres and ambiances.
Eduard Hopper (1882-1967) – American realist painter. In his paintings he gave a personal vision of the modern American life.
Théodore Géricault (1791-1824) was an influential French painter known for The Raft of the Medusa. He was one of the pioneers of the Romantic Movement.
Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) is among the best-known painters of the Post– Impressionist period.
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) Dutch Post-Impressionist painter considered one of the most influential figures in the history of Western art.
